Washington basketball head coach Danny Sprinkle is undoubtedly looking for some high-upside talent in the transfer portal after a 13-18 season in 2024-25, and the Huskies may have found just that type of player.
Lathan Sommerville, who last season played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, is going to be traveling all the way across the country to join Washington as a transfer portal addition.
Sommerville recently took a visit to check out the Huskies, and that time with Sprinkle in Seattle was apparently all it took to secure his commitment.

Sommerville displayed a ton of upside at Rutgers last season as just a freshman. He played in 32 games, starting 15. At 6-foot-10, 275 pounds, he averaged 8.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
He played some of his best games against some of Rutgers' best opponents. He scored 16 in the Big Ten Tournament against USC and 17 at No. 15 Michigan just a few games before that.
Washington is getting a player who will have three years of eligibility left. He was rated as a four-star center from Peoria, Illinois coming out of high school.
