It was a great start to Big Ten play for the Iowa Hawkeyes on Tuesday night.
Josh Dix capped it off with a deep buzzer-beater to win the game for Iowa (7-1), 80-79, over the Northwestern Wildcats (6-3).

It was a hot shooting night for both teams. Iowa converted on 54.5 percent of its shots while Northwestern was 29-of-60 (48.3 percent).
The Hawkeyes won the game despite getting outrebounded 36-26. Dix led the way for Iowa with 22 points and six rebounds, while senior forward Payton Sandfort put up 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Northwestern got a pair of 20-point efforts from senior guards Brooks Barnhizer (21 points) and Ty Berry (20 points).
Coming into Tuesday night, Iowa was tied for the 15th-most points per game (87.4 PPG) in the country. The efficient shot-making continued for the Hawkeyes.
Northwestern has now lost all three of its games by five points or fewer. The Wildcats lost to Dayton (7-2), 71-66, and Butler (7-1), 71-69, before dropping their third game against Iowa.
Tuesday night was the first of two early conference games for Northwestern and Iowa. The Wildcats will host No. 19 Illinois (6-1) on Friday, while the Hawkeyes travel to take on Michigan (6-1) on Saturday.
