Watch: Michigan HC Juwan Howard throws punch at end of loss vs. Wisconsin

The highly anticipated Big Ten men's basketball matchup Sunday between Michigan and host Wisconsin included a historic jersey retirement of Badgers legend Michael Finley at halftime. What happened immediately following Wisconsin's 77-63 victory will likely end up overshadowing everything else that happened on the court, though.

According to the CBS broadcast, as well as basketball analyst Jeff Goodman, Juwan Howard — the head coach of the Wolverines — " seemed upset" that Badgers head coach Greg Gard called a timeout while up by 15 points with 15 seconds left in regulation.

Howard is in his third season as Michigan's head coach and was named both the AP Coach of the Year and Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2020-21. The Wolverines are now 14-11, and after being ranked as good as fourth in the country earlier in the season, the team has been unranked since early December.

The 49-year-old played three seasons in the early 1990s as part of Michigan's "Fab Five." He later played for nearly two decades in the NBA, making one All-Star team and winning two championships.

Gard is in his seventh season at the helm in Wisconsin and earned the Big Ten Coach of the Year award two seasons ago. The Badgers are now 21-5 and ranked 15th in the nation.
