The Pittsburgh Basketball Show is back just in time for the Pitt basketball season to get going here in early November.

However, ahead of tonight’s exhibition against Point Park and the Nov. 4 season opener against Radford, I caught up with Pitt commit Omari Witherspoon out of St. John’s College High School in Washington D.C. to talk about his relationships with Jeff Capel and the Pitt staff while also previewing his senior season and more.

Check out the interview with Witherspoon below.

Witherspoon chose the Panthers over Maryland and Vanderbilt. Earlier this summer, the 6-foot-4 guard was not entirely on high-major radars. However, with a big summer session, he caught the eyes of many high-major coaches and scouts alike.

In 247’s latest rankings update, the team of scouts there had Witherspoon ranked as the No. 104 prospect in the country — a four star. Witherspoon jumped up a whopping 87 spots in 247’s rankings, as he was previously ranked No. 191. He now owns a 90 overall rating from 247.

Witherspoon joins the list of talented DMV-area guards to recently join Jeff Capel’s program, following Bub Carrington and Leggett. Leggett also went to Saint John’s College High School in D.C. for his prep career.

Pitt is still recruiting other guards in the class, including Meleek Thomas, Amari Evans, and others.

Stay tuned on Pittsburgh Sports Now for the latest Pitt basketball recruiting coverage as well as daily coverage of the program. On Tuesday night, keep an eye on PSN for news on the Panthers’ exhibition game against Point Park.
