West Virginia has contacted Morehead State transfer guard Drew Thelwell, he tells The Portal Report and WV Sports Now. Thelwell played at MSU for four seasons and has an additional year of eligibility.

Thelwell has heard from Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Cal State Fullerton, Charlotte, Colorado State, East Carolina, Elon, George Washington, Georgia State, Iowa, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Kennesaw State, Loyola Chicago, Loyola Marymount, Marshall, Mercer, Miami (FL), Michigan, Murray State, North Alabama, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Pepperdine, Rice, Richmond, SMU, South Carolina, St. Bonaventure, Stetson, Stony Brook, TCU, Tulsa, UC Riverside, UCF, UNC-Wilmington, USC Upstate, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia since entering the portal on March 25.

Thelwell (6-foot-3) averaged 10.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.3 steals for the Eagles during his senior season. The Orlando, Fl. native shot 44% from the field, 34% from three and 65% from the free throw line. Thelwell’s season-high occurred back in November with a 26-point performance vs. Mercer.

WVU has landed one transfer commitment in Tucker DeVries so far this offseason losing Josiah Harris (F), Kerr Kriisa (G), Seth Wilson (G) so far. The Mountaineers also plan on hosting Conor Enright (G – Drake) and Toby Okani (F – UIC) for visits this month.
