West Virginia’s basketball staff continues to contact players in the transfer portal as they have four scholarship spots remaining for the 2024-25 season. Most recently, WVU contacted Oklahoma transfer guard Kaden Cooper, he tells The Portal Report and WV Sports Now.

Cooper has also heard from Colorado State, Old Dominion, UNLV, Virginia Tech and others since entering the transfer portal.

Cooper (6-foot-5) is a former four-star recruit out of high school before joining Porter Moser’s team in 2023. Cooper appeared in 15 games for the Sooners, averaging 1.5 points. Cooper has three years of eligibility remaining.

Out of high school, Cooper received offers from the likes of Alabama, UConn, Gonzaga, Kansas, Texas, UCLA and other Power-6 programs as a top-60 recruit.

WVU has picked up six transfers this offseason: Tucker DeVries (G – Drake), Sencire Harris (G – Illinois), Amani Hansberry (F – Illinois), Toby Okani (F – UIC), Eduardo Andre (C – Fresno State) and Javon Small (G – Oklahoma State).

West Virginia has lost Josiah Harris (F), Seth Wilson (G), Patrick Suemnick (F), Kerr Kriisa (G), Jeremiah Bembry (G), Kobe Johnson (G), Ali Ragab (C) and Noah Farrakhan (G) to the transfer portal.

The transfer portal entry window closed on Wednesday, May 1, but players just need to be entered by then and can extend their recruitment as long as they want to.
