West Virginia's Akok Akok recovering at home following collapse

West Virginia forward Akok Akok is recovering at his home in Morgantown after he collapsed on the court during a charity exhibition game, the school announced.

Akok, who had a medical emergency, according to the school, "will continue to be monitored and evaluated by our medical team," the program said on Twitter.

Reporters at the home game against George Mason said Akok collapsed during the second half and was able to move his legs. He was tended to for more than 10 minutes by EMTs before being put on the stretcher and taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Akok, a 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward, is beginning his fifth season of college basketball and first at West Virginia after transferring from Georgetown. In three seasons at UConn and one at Georgetown, Akok averaged 5.1 points and 4.7 rebounds across 86 games (62 starts).

West Virginia won the game 85-78 in a benefit for WVU Medicine Children's hospital. The Mountaineers open the season Nov. 6 at home against Missouri State.
