There is no bad blood here. Essegian expressed how much he appreciated Davis’ help when he first arrived on campus. Apparently, Essegian crashed on his couch for a while when he first got to campus. He wishes him the best and hopes that Davis can be great on a new team. He found a role as a sixth man on the Badgers but is looking for a team that he can start for. It is a loss for the program that is trying to find out what went wrong this season and improve for next year.

Where Does The Program Go From Here?

The first reactions are to blame Greg Gard. However, Gard has led the Badgers to good seasons in the past. This season was rough for a variety of reasons. The team consistently found themselves in close games and just couldn’t finish the job. That is a positive thing for this team. They weren’t getting blown out and embarrassed. They just couldn’t find the scoring late in games to put teams away. The Badgers will need to find a more consistent offensive player that can be a go-to scoring option to end droughts.

Could that be Connor Essegian next year? Wisconsin basketball sure needs him to take a leap next season. The hope is that this year’s experience will set the Badgers up for success in the long run.
