Wisconsin Basketball Recruiting No. 1 Player from Colorado

Wisconsin basketball did not take long to decide it liked what it saw in its newest recruiting interest. Less than a week after BadgerNotes learned that the Badgers are in contact with a point guard from Colorado, Wisconsin has officially extended him a scholarship offer.

Josiah Sanders is among the hottest names in the Rocky Mountains this spring. Thanks to some impressive showings on the AAU Circuit with Under Armor’s Mountain Stars, Sanders added a handful of scholarship offers in May from San Francisco, Wyoming, Tennessee, Northwestern, and Minnesota. The 6-foot-four-inch point guard also holds power conference offers from Arizona State and Colorado. Most recently, he received a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin basketball program.

The standout from Colorado Prep (Denver, CO) told BadgerNotes that he is “super excited and very grateful for this opportunity!” The top player from Colorado in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports, said it’s a “reassurance that I’ve been doing the right things and taking care of business! It’s a big time school and it means a lot! Just got to keep god first,stay humble, and work hard, and everything will work out!”

Sanders emphasized that he is “really looking for a good relationship with the coaching staff and a great environment” in his recruitment.

Wisconsin basketball coach Greg Gard is still seeking a second commitment in the 2025 recruiting class. Zach Kinziger of De Pere is currently the sole commit for the Badgers. Most recently, UW lost out on power forward EJ Walker, a Kentucky native, to South Carolina. The Gamecocks are led by former Badgers assistant Lamont Paris.

Wisconsin will need to shore up its backcourt depth for 2025. Max Klesmit is entering his final season of eligibility. Alongside the Neenah native, a pair of Badgers newcomers are expected to shoulder the load at the point. Cam Hunter, the Central Arkansas transfer, has two years of eligibility remaining. Incoming freshman Daniel Freitag is also expected to play a significant role following the departure of three-year starter Chucky Hepburn.
