West Virginia has picked up a commitment from 2024 guard Dylan Jay on Friday afternoon. Jay announced his decision over social media.

Jay (6-foot-4) becomes a surprise commitment for Darian DeVries and the Mountaineers. Jay wrapped up his high school play at Phhoenix Prep, the same team where former WVU signee Carmelo Adkins played.

West Virginia now has 12 people on the roster with the addition of Jay. Jay joins KJ Tenner (G) and Jonathan Powell (G) as the third 2024 prospect to join the Mountaineers.

West Virginia has 11 signed players for the 2024-25 season, the first of DeVries. WVU’s coaching staff has put together a group of eight transfer portal recruits, two high school senior commits and a returning sophomore Ofri Naveh.

Here are the transfer additions the Mountaineers have made this offseason: Tucker DeVries (G – Drake), Sencire Harris (G – Illinois), Amani Hansberry (F – Illinois), Toby Okani (F – UIC), Eduardo Andre (C – Fresno State), Javon Small (G – Oklahoma State), Joseph Yesufu (G – Washington State) and Jayden Stone (G).

The staff hosted Sacramento State transfer forward Duncan Powell on Wednesday and Thursday for a visit.
