West Virginia has officially contacted Drake transfer guard Atin Wright, he tells The Portal Report and WV Sports Now. Wright told WVSN last week that he’s considering following Darian DeVries to West Virginia.

Wright has heard from Arkansas, Cal, Florida, Mississippi State, Nevada, Ole Miss, Stanford, UCF, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and others since entering the transfer portal.

Wright, a 6-foot-1 guard, is entering his fifth season of college basketball, with one year of eligibility remaining with the COVID year option.

Wright averaged 14.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 35 games for the Bulldogs this past season. Wright was the second-leading scorer for Drake behind Tucker DeVries. Wright shot 46% from the field and 41% from three. The Lakewood, Ca. native scored 20 or more points nine times this season, capping off the year with a 20-point performance in the NCAA Tournament vs. Washington State.

WVU has landed one transfer commitment in Tucker DeVries so far this offseason losing just Seth Wilson (G) and Kerr Kriisa (G) so far. The Mountaineers also plan on hosting Conor Enright (G – Drake) and Toby Okani (F – UIC) for visits this month.

WV Sports Now will keep you up to date on the latest transfer portal recruiting news for West Virginia.
