WVU G Seth Wilson is entering the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon, leaving West Virginia’s program after three seasons. Wilson is the first Mountaineer to hit the transfer portal this offseason.

Wilson made the announcement on his Instagram.

“Dear Mountaineer Nation, it is with a heavy heart that I write this. I want to say that it has been a blessing to represent this great University and State. I want to thank all of my coaches, advisors, supporters, and fans over these past three years. Thank you for accepting me as one of your own as soon as I committed and stepped foot on campus. My time here will be cherished and remembered forever.

“With that being said, after a lot of prayer and discussion with my family I have decided that it is best for me to enter the transfer portal and continue my athletic career and post-graduate studies elsewhere. Thank you Mountaineer Nation from the bottom of my heart. Forever a Mountaineer!”

Wilson (6-foot-1) averaged 3.5 points and 1.7 rebounds on 38% three-point shooting during his junior year. Wilson, a Lorain, Ohio native, stayed with West Virginia during the transition from Bob Huggins to Josh Eilert but will now enter the transfer portal after Darian DeVries was named head coach on Sunday. Wilson joined WVU’s program in 2021 as a true freshman.

Wilson has played in 82 games for West Virginia over three years.
