Look: Iowa marks spot where Caitlin Clark broke record

Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark has left her mark on the court, so Iowa found an excellent way to commemorate this.

Ahead of its matchup against Illinois on Sunday, Iowa revealed it marked the spot at Carver-Hawkeye Arena where Clark broke the NCAA women's all-time scoring record against Michigan on Feb. 15.

The three-time All-American had a triple-double in a 101-85 victory against the Fighting Illini (13-13), finishing with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.

Clark could make more history later this season. According to ESPN, the 22-year-old needs 51 points to break the record Pete Maravich set in 1970 for most points (3,667) in Division I history for men and women. She is averaging 32.1 points per game this season, meaning there's a strong chance she can do this.

The 6-foot guard could also lead Iowa to its first national championship. The No. 4 Hawkeyes (24-4) have won three of their last five games and are first in the Big Ten. As of Sunday, FanDuel gives them the third-best title odds (+850) behind defending champion LSU (24-4) and No. 1 South Carolina (26-0).
