LSU women’s basketball star forward draws praise after 20 rebound performance vs. Florida

Today was a big day for the Tigers, but it may have been even bigger for LSU women’s basketball star forward Aneesah Morrow, who had one of her best games of the season today vs. Florida.

Talk about a bounce back performance. After dropping two straight vs. South Carolina and Mississippi State, LSU women’s basketball got right in a major way today, beating Florida by 40 points, 106-66.

For the Tigers, there were several players who had notable stat lines, whether it be Hailey Van Lith and her 21 points or Angel Reese and yet another double-double. Still, LSU women’s basketball star forward Aneesah Morrow might have been the most impressive of them all.

After recording 30 points and 16 rebounds over the last two games combined, she was nearly impossible to stop today. In only 28 minutes, she put together a stat line that included 18 points, 20 rebounds and two blocks, which notably included two makes from beyond the arc.

She was impressive on all accounts, and it wasn’t just her teammates who took notice. Following the final buzzer, Florida coach Kelly Rae Finley took some time to speak with the media, and she had some glowing remarks about the former DePaul transfer.

“Morrow brings a tremendous amount of physicality to the game,” the Florida head coach said about the LSU women’s basketball star forward. “She’s very versatile at that four position – they can move her around a lot. I think she compliments what they do from an inside, out perspective very, very well, but she’s also very unselfish. She’s unselfish, so she attacks the glass. She’ll go get that ball herself. She definitely has brought a different dimension to their team as a whole.”

Since joining the Tiger program, Morrow has been an absolute force on the inside, competing among the very best in the SEC. If the purple and gold are to make a run late into the season, expect the 6-foot-1 junior to be a major part of it.

The LSU women’s basketball team returns to action later this week, as they’ll travel to Nashville for a 8:00 p.m. CST matchup vs. Vanderbilt on Thursday, February 8.
