No. 10 Arizona remains paused, postpones two more games due to COVID

The women's basketball team of the Arizona Wildcats, ranked No. 10 in the nation, will remain idle through the end of the month.

Arizona confirmed that Friday's game against the USC Trojans and Sunday's showdown with the No. 5-ranked UCLA Bruins are postponed due to COVID-19 issues impacting the Wildcats. Previously, Arizona called off last Sunday's matchup versus the Colorado Buffaloes because of coronavirus-related setbacks.

Additionally, Arizona head coach Adia Barnes canceled her weekly press conference.

"The news of the cancellation is very disappointing to student-athletes, coaches and fans," Arizona said in the prepared statement. "However, health and safety must remain our top priorities as we move forward."

All three games are hoped to be rescheduled.

The Wildcats haven't competed since notching a 66-54 victory over the Utah Utes last Friday and are next scheduled to play at the Oregon State Beavers on Feb. 5. If, however, Arizona observes a 14-day quarantine, the team may not return to action until a Feb. 8 contest at the No. 11-ranked Oregon Ducks.

According to Mechelle Voepel of ESPN, the California Golden Bears haven't played since Jan. 15 and won't compete again until Feb. 5 at the earliest.
