Indiana women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren gave an update on forwards Mackenzie Holmes and Lilly Meister Monday evening on the weekly “Inside Indiana Women’s Basketball Radio Show” on Bloomington B97.

During Sunday’s win over Maryland in the regular-season finale, Holmes (knee) and Meister (ankle) exited with injuries.

“Well, they were both in today to see (athletic trainer) Ben [Tate],” Moren said. “I think they both feel better. I think we’ll know at the end of the week where both of them are, as far as availability for the weekend. I thought there was some optimistic news today. So, I felt good about it. I think Ben feels good about it. But time will tell.”

Holmes departed with 1:20 to go in Sunday’s third quarter, as her left knee made contact with an opposing player on a layup. Holmes hobbled as she landed, grimaced in pain, and headed to the locker room. Later in the game, she returned to the bench under her own power and looked to be walking okay postgame.

With 3:32 left in the game, Meister landed awkwardly on a layup attempt and laid sideways on the ground, grabbing her left foot. She was helped off the court and got medical attention on the bench.

Because Indiana earned one of the four double-byes in the Big Ten Tournament, the Hoosiers have two days of additional rest and don’t play until Friday night in the quarterfinals. They will play No. 6 Michigan, No. 11 Minnesota or No. 14 Rutgers.

The Big Ten Tournament starts Wednesday in Minneapolis.
