With the transfer portal officially opening on December 5th, multiple players will seek out new homes for spring. A lot players have already entered the Transfer Portal, while some are still taking their time. With the new transfer portal rules, allowing players to not have to sit out a year, transfers will be immediately be able to compete for playing time. A few who entered the portal have already found a new home, like Cade McNamara at Iowa.

Below we see 15 Transfer Portal players to look out for. Most of these players can come in and contribute early on to a team in need. We will start with offense then go to defense.

Offensive Transfers

As of December 2nd, here are 10 of the best transfer portal player on offense. There will be more to come for this list as players continue to hit the transfer portal.

Hudson Card, Quarterback, Texas

Texas quarterback Hudson Card entered the portal on Tuesday, November 29th. The former 247 sports Top-100 recruit is a redshirt sophomore who will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next destination.

Over the past two seasons, Card threw for 1,523 yards and 11 touchdowns. He threw just two interceptions in 194 attempts. He redshirted his first year with the Longhorns back in 2020 after playing in just two games.

Card started three games for Texas this year, winning games against UTSA and West Virginia. He started two games in 2021.

Brennan Armstrong, Quarterback, Virginia

Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong announced on December 1st that he’d enter the portal. The fifth-year senior from Shelby, Ohio enters the portal as a graduate transfer.

Armstrong threw for 2,210 yards, seven touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 10 games for the Cavaliers this season. He experienced a major drop off in  production from his previous years.

Throughout his career, Armstrong owns 12 300-yard passing games, with his career high of 554 passing yards coming in Virginia’s 2021 loss to North Carolina. He also ranked 4th in the FBS with 4,449 yards in 2021.

Kavosiey Smoke, Running-back, Kentucky

Kentucky running back Kavosiey Smoke announced on December 1st that he’d enter the transfer portal. Smoke enters the portal as a grad transfer, only having one season left of eligibility.

In over five seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats, Smoke carried the ball 291 times for 1,583 yards (ranking 21st on Kentucky’s career rushing list), and 13 touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per carry.

In the 2022 season, during the span of four games, Smoke rushed 51 times for 263 yards and a touchdown. In Kentucky’s 26-16 win over Florida, Smoke carried the ball 14 times for 80 yards, then against Youngstown State 18 times for 66 yards and a touchdown.

Trey Sanders, Running-back, Alabama

Alabama running back Trey Sanders entered the portal back in Tuesday, November 22nd. A redshirt junior, Sanders is listed as a graduate transfer with one season left of eligibility.

Throughout this season, Sanders has appeared in nine games, and 26 throughout his career. He was listed as the Crimson Tide’s 4th-string running back behind Jahmyr Gibbs, Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams. Sanders has rushed 14 times for 80 yards and one touchdown.

During his 2020-22 campaign at Bama, Sanders has rushed 116 times for 528 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards a carry.

Dont’e Thornton, Wide receiver, Oregon

On Monday, November 28th, sophomore Oregon wide receiver Dont’e Thornton announced he’d be entering the transfer portal.

Thornton came into Oregon as a part of their 2021 recruiting class, where he saw limited action in four games of his true freshman season, but played in 11 games of the 2022 season. In the final four games of 2022, Thornton caught nine passes for 237 yards and one touchdown for 26.3 yards per reception.

In his two seasons at Oregon, Thornton amassed 26 receptions for 541 yards and three touchdowns.

Dominic Lovett, Wide receiver, Mizzou

Missouri sophomore wide receiver Dominic Lovett announced on Saturday, November 26th, his intentions to enter the transfer portal.

In 2022, Lovett caught 56 passes for 846 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers.  His 56 catches put him sixth in receptions in the SEC, and his receiving yards were third in the SEC behind Tennessee’s Jalen Hyatt and South Carolina’s Antwane Wells Jr.

In his two years at Mizzou, Lovett has caught 82 passes for 1,019 yard and three touchdowns while averaging 12.4 yards per reception.

Theo Wease, Wide receiver, Oklahoma

On Wednesday, November 30th, Oklahoma wide receiver Theo Wease announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.

As a freshman, Wease played in 13 0f 14 games before starting every game during the COVID season. He was in line for another big season in 2021 but missed almost the entire season with an injury. He returned this year and has played a big role in the wide receiver room.

This season, Wease recorded 19 catches, for 378 yards and four touchdowns for the Sooners. He had a monster game against Texas Tech, where he recorded three receptions for 123 yards, along with a 61-yard touchdown.

Traeshon Holden, Wide receiver, Alabama

Alabama wide receiver Traeshon Holden, announced on Wednesday, November 30th, that he’d enter the transfer portal.

Holden, a 6’3 junior, saw his production increase the past two seasons. This season for the Tide, he caught 25 passes for 331 yards (4th in the team) and six touchdowns.

In two seasons at Alabama, Holden has caught 46 passes for 570 yards and seven touchdowns.

Grant DuBose, Wide receiver, Charlotte

Charlotte wide receiver Grant DuBose, announced on November 22nd he’d be entering the transfer portal.

A fourth year junior, DuBose caught 63 passes for 787 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 12.5 yards per reception. He recorded tree two-touchdown games- Aug. 27 at FAU, Sept. 17 at Georgia State and Oct. 1 against UTEP.

In two games against power five competition, Dubose caught 12 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown.

Jake Renfro, Offensive line, Cincinnati

On Thursday, December 2nd, Cincinnati offensive lineman Jake Renfro announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.

Renfro was the starting starting center for the Bearcats in 2021, a team that made the playoffs. He missed the 2022 season with a knee injury following a year he made the first-team All-AAC.

Renfro held a 73.6 pass blocking grade and a 61.1 run blocking grade two seasons ago.
