2024 NFL Mock Draft: Who is QB3 After Caleb Williams, Drake Maye?
USA TODAY Sports

At this point, it's looking like a clear-cut tandem at the top of this year's quarterback board, with USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye battling it out for the chance to be the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

But who will be the next signal-caller to hear his name called, and how long will he have to wait?

In the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from Trevor Sikkema at Pro Football Focus, it's LSU's Jayden Daniels, who joins Williams and Maye in the top 10 by landing with the New Orleans Saints at the No. 9 pick.

That would be an ideal development for football fans in the state of Louisiana, who have enjoyed watching Daniels light it up for the Bayou Bengals, and would then get to see him do the same for the in-state Saints. Daniels had a record-breaking 2023 season for the Tigers, and it wouldn't be shocking if he took home the Heisman Trophy this weekend.

Oregon's Bo Nix is the only other quarterback to crack this first-round mock, landing with the Minnesota Vikings at No. 21, leaving the likes of Washington's Michael Penix Jr. and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy waiting until the second round to hear their names called.

Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Texas' Quinn Ewers could each make a strong case to be QB3 in this class, but both are expected to return to school next season instead of entering the 2024 draft.

Along with Williams and Maye, the top five picks in this projection are rounded out by Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (No. 3, Arizona Cardinals), Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu (No. 4, Washington Commanders), and UCLA edge defender Laiatu Latu (No. 5, Chicago Bears).
