2025 NFL Draft Profile: Cameron Williams Draft Profile

Cameron Williams is one of the toughest projections in the 2025 NFL Draft because he is only a one-year starter at Texas, where he started all 15 games for the Longhorns as he, his bookend on the blind side, Kelvin Banks, and the rest of his teammates up front were a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, which was given to the best offensive line unit in the country. Williams has the desirable physical traits to play tackle in the NFL, and he is a mauler in the running game, imposing his size to engulf targets with inferior skills. However, Williams will need to continue to work on his technique and gain more experience when it comes to taking on skilled pass rushers.

Rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports and a four-star recruit by Rivals and On3, Williams played as a reserve in his first two seasons at Texas; he was named Co-Southeastern Conference Lineman of the Week due to his efforts against Colorado State on Sept. 2. Williams is rated by lead NFL draft analyst Eric Edholm as the No. 65 player in his top 100 draft prospect list.

Strengths

  • Massive frame with proportioned thickness and ideal length.
  • He had a strong first punch in mass protection, taking advantage of his massive hands.
  • He is able to ride the target up and around the pocket.
  • He works to get his feet into position to strike the target on cut-off blocks.
  • He strikes forcefully when he contacts his target.
  • Shows mobility climbing or pulling to the second level of the defense.
  • He plays with a mean streak, as he finishes his blocks, and will pancake defenders whenever possible.
  • Has good football I.Q.

Weaknesses

  • Lacks body control; his upper and lower bodies do not work together in unison at times.
  • He will need to improve his hand placement in pass protection as he tends to strike too high.
  • He needs to work on bending at the knees instead of at his waist to gain better leverage.
  • Lacks the ideal lateral agility to catch up to speedy rushers when beaten one-on-one.
  • He gives up leverage too often to run defenders with sloppy footwork.

Bottom Line on Cameron Williams

Cameron Williams is a talented prospect with a high ceiling in the 2025 NFL Draft. Although he doesn’t have a ton of reps to his name, what he has shown scouts is his high football character and IQ, a mean streak, and the work ethic to continually improve his craft as he made massive improvements throughout the 2024 season. Williams possesses the ideal size to play both left and right tackle, though he would be best being drafted to play right tackle until he can clean up his technique, most particularly his footwork. In conclusion, Williams has the potential to be one of the best pure right tackles in this year’s class, but it may take a year or two for it to come to pass.
