Coming out of high school in Knightdale (NC), Aeneas "Fub" Peebles was a three-star recruit and the country's #33 defensive tackle (per 24/7). After high school, he held offers from various Power 5 programs, including Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Texas. Peebles committed to Duke, where he played for four years before transferring to Virginia Tech in 2024.
Peebles was named a first-team All-ACC in 2024. He started 15 of his 58 career games between Duke and Virginia Tech. However, he played more than 400 snaps in each of the last three years. In 2024, Peebles led all Virginia Tech defensive tackles with 516 snaps.
According to PFF, Peebles generated 37 pressures and three sacks across 290 pass-rushing snaps in 2024. He totaled 33 pressures and six sacks the prior season on 278 pass-rushing snaps.
Amongst 350 FBS defensive tackles and guards to play at least 300 snaps in 2024, Peebles had the 5th-best overall PFF grade, the 50th-best run-defense grade, and the best pass-rushing grade. In 2023, he earned the 7th-best overall PFF grade, the 49th-best run-defense grade, and the 2nd-best pass-rushing grade.
I had FUN watching Aeneas Peebles tape. Talk about a bull in a china shop. This DT out of Virginia Tech plays the game like a greased-up wrecking ball.

Final Thoughts & Bears Fit for Aeneas Peebles:
Aeneas Peebles rules. He is a football player I will take on my team ten times out of ten. His violent demeanor and non-stop motor to attack the football are the type of football character check marks that defensive tackle coaches love to see.
While he might not have an all-pro ceiling, he does have a clear role from the moment he steps on an NFL field: DISRUPT! Between his lightning-quick first step, rapid hand usage, and full-body flexibility, Peebles will be a pain for any offensive lineman he faces.
For the Bears, Peebels could be an ideal target to add to the defensive tackle rotation. He could spell Gervon Dexter on neutral downs and pair well with Dexter on passing downs. The Bears desperately need to add defensive tackle depth to their roster.
In 2024, the mid-season loss of Andrew Billings significantly altered their defense. While Peebles would not help much with nose tackle depth, he would add instant chaos and athleticism to the front. His ability and experience running stunts would fit well with potential Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
