Strengths

Milroe’s explosiveness as an athlete is evident from the moment you turn on the tape. He’s a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands, whether he’s breaking off long runs or creating extra time outside the pocket and looking for big plays down the field. He’s got enough arm strength to push the ball to all levels of the field, and he’s shown the ability to make big-time throws in clutch moments. He’s a competitive player with valuable leadership ability that will benefit him greatly at the next level, with ability to rally his teammates and inspire confidence in the locker room and on the sidelines.

Weaknesses

As a pure passer, Milroe still needs a ton of refinement before he’s ready to challenge NFL defenses consistently from the pocket. He’s shown flashes at times, but his overall combination of accuracy, decision-making and overall consistency when throwing the football is all over the place. He struggles most in those areas when trying to find and hit intermediate targets inside the numbers, and though his running ability is a massive asset, he can be too quick to rely on it, bailing from the pocket when it’s not necessary and making himself too one-dimensional.

Final Analysis

There’s massive upside with Milroe because of his athleticism, arm talent, and intangibles. But he still needs loads of development as a passer if he wants to become a successful starting quarterback at the next level, so the NFL team that drafts him will have to have a strong offensive coaching staff and a sizable amount of patience. In the right scenario, Milroe could develop into a superstar down the road, but a wide range of stars will have to align just right.
