The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and we've got you covered with in-depth scouting reports on all of the top prospects at every position in this year's class.

Here's everything you need to know about Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo heading into the 2025 draft:

Vitals

Height: 5-11

Weight: 215

Age: 23

Strengths

A powerful bruiser between the tackles, Skattebo plays with impressive strength and contact balance to get the most yardage possible out of every run. He consistently requires multiple tacklers to take him down, and he excels at falling forward to finish every play with the utmost effort. He’s a versatile back who can catch the ball out of the backfield and turn check-downs into first downs, and create open-field mismatches against smaller or slower defenders. He’s got a solid blend of patience and vision that allows him to avoid negative plays, and he’s quick enough to avoid would-be tacklers in the backfield. Skattebo is a high-motor player who seems to play his best in the critical moments of the game.

Weaknesses

Though he’s produced his share of big plays at the college level, Skattebo doesn’t have the elite explosiveness or breakaway speed that will allow him to run away from NFL defenders. While he is a reliable pass-catcher out of the backfield, he can be inconsistent in pass protection, despite his stout frame and affinity for contact. A heavy workload and fumbling issues could be concerns at the next level when it comes to durability and ball security.

Final Analysis

A transfer from Sacramento State, Skattebo exploded onto the scene with an incredible 2024 campaign, finishing fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting. His ideal fit at the next level would be as the power complement to a faster, more explosive runner in a committee backfield, but growth in the areas of pass protection and ball security could earn him a more significant starting role with the right team.
