The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and we've got you covered with in-depth scouting reports on all of the top prospects at every position in this year's class.

Here's everything you need to know about Iowa State cornerback Darien Porter heading into the 2025 draft:

Vitals

Height: 6-4

Weight: 200

Age: 24

Strengths

Porter’s massive frame and impressive wingspan are impossible to ignore, and gives him an immediate trump card from a physical standpoint. There simply aren’t many corners who bring his combination of size and length to the table, and it will give him the tools to hang with the league’s biggest, toughest receivers, and allow him to bully the smaller ones. He’s an experienced defender, and it shows in how quickly he processes route combinations and anticipates throws coming his way. His long speed allows him to stick with deep threats down the field, keeping him within striking distance long enough for him to rely on his height and length at the catch point. His track record of making an impact on special teams won’t go unnoticed by NFL scouts and coaches.

Weaknesses

Like most corners with his physical profile, Porter can struggle with his transitions, as his long limbs make it tougher for him to get in and out of his breaks with instant quickness. Shifter receivers will be able to challenge him on complex intermediate routes, as he’s forced to play catch-up with his lower body movements in short areas. His tall, lean frame makes it hard for Porter to get effective leverage as a run defender, leading him to get blocked out of plays by the lower man.

Final Analysis

A former track star and converted wide receiver, Porter has physical traits you just can’t teach at the position, and NFL defensive coordinators and defensive backs coaches will be clamoring to get their hands on a player with those tools. His track speed is another asset, and while he might never be the most complete player who can mirror quicker receivers on shorter routes, he’s still growing into the position, which might take some patience, but he’s got the upside to be a star down the road.

Current Projection: 3rd Round
