The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and we've got you covered with in-depth scouting reports on all of the top prospects at every position in this year's class.
Here's everything you need to know about Texas safety Andrew Mukuba heading into the 2025 draft:
Height: 6-0
Weight: 190
Age: 22
A rangy ballhawk with impressive playmaking instincts, Mukuba is a takeaway waiting to happen when patrolling in zone coverage. He’s able to make quick reads based on what he sees from the quarterback and route combinations headed his way, and his transition skills allow him to click and close on the ball with a fury. His short-area quickness and footwork allow him to be effective when matched up in man coverage against shifty receivers, and football IQ allows him to take calculated gambles when the ball’s in the air. Despite his lean frame, Mukuba isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty in the box against the run, flying up into the trenches and doing his best to slow down ball-carriers coming out of the backfield.
That lack of ideal size does present some challenges for Mukuba, both as a run defender and in coverage. For all his valiant effort, Mukuba’s ability to bring down bigger runners is limited by his lack of bulk and strength, leading to extra yards after contact before he’s able to bring them down. It also makes things more difficult when he’s matched up in man coverage against tight ends and bigger, more physical receivers who can out-muscle him at the catch point.

His size keeps him from being the most complete player in this safety class, but there’s simply no substitute for the range, instincts and athleticism he brings to a defense, and the splash plays his presence can create on the back end. Those traits will always be highly valued by NFL decision-makers, and it won’t be surprising if Mukuba comes off the board in the early rounds and wastes little time making a highlight reel in the pros as a turnover machine.
