2 Key Penn State Players Return to Practice Ahead of UCLA Game Following Injuries
Penn State Football Penn State linebacker Dominic DeLuca grabs an interception on a pass intended for Delaware wide receiver James Collins (15) before scoring on a 26-yard return in the third quarter at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, in State College, Pa.

Penn State Football took the practice field Wednesday night following the Nittany Lions‘ first ranked-win of the season Saturday night over Illinois.

During the media viewing window of Wednesday’s practice, two key contributors were seen as active practice participants.

Dominic Deluca, Sal Wormley Return to Practice for Penn State Football

Linebacker Dominic DeLuca and offensive guard Sal Wormley were both seen during the media viewing window actively participating in practice this week.

Linebacker Dominic DeLuca was seen participating in drills with the linebackers with a cast on his right hand following an undisclosed injury against Kent State.

DeLuca did not play in Penn State’s game against Illinois this weekend.

During head coach James Franklin’s weekly press conference Monday, Franklin noted that he “expects” to have DeLuca, among others, back from injury but did not give a timetable for a return to action.

Offensive guard Sal Wormley was also seen actively participating in practice Wednesday after leaving Penn State’s game against Illinois with an undisclosed injury, per StateCollege.com’s Seth Engle.

Wormley was another named mentioned by Franklin as a player that he “expects” back for the Nittany Lions so his return to practice should be an encouraging sign for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State’s swing backup guard JB Nelson also was injured against the Illini, forcing true freshman Cooper Cousins into action for the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game.
