On Wednesday, Georgia State quarterback Zach Gibson entered the transfer portal after spending the 2024 college football season with the Panthers. After two years at Georgia Tech, the 6-foot-2, 201-pound signal-caller joined the Panthers in 2024.

Gibson passed for 1,004 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions last season.

Georgia State began 2024 with Christian Veilleux as the team's starting quarterback but pivoted to Gibson during the Panthers' 21-14 loss to Old Dominion in Week 6.

Gibson recorded a touchdown pass in all six of his appearances last year. In his career, he has 4,064 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions across 30 games.

Gibson began his collegiate career at Akron, joining the Zips as part of the 2019 recruiting class. A three-star recruit, he was ranked the 76th pro-style quarterback by 247Sports that year.

The Alpharetta, Georgia, native chose Akron over Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Georgia State and Morehead State.

Over three seasons at Akron, he appeared in 17 games. Gibson passed for 2,471 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions with the Zips. In November 2021, he would enter the transfer portal and commit to the Yellow Jackets in January 2022.

In December 2023, he entered the portal for the second time, eventually joining Georgia State last January.
