Week 3 was another exciting week of college football and featured many notable offensive NFL Draft risers. Here are four offensive players who improved their NFL Draft stock in Week 3.
Taylen Green is a high-ceiling quarterback prospect with all the physical tools needed to be a quarterback in the NFL. He stands 6 feet 6 inches tall, at 235 pounds, and possesses a big arm and impressive athletic ability. Green had a strong start to the season against Alabama A&M and Arkansas State, but had yet to prove he could sustain that success against high-level competition this season. Although his Razorbacks fell short of winning, Green had an impressive game, throwing for over 300 passing yards, along with 115 rushing yards and two total touchdowns, leading his offense to 35 points on the road against a top-25 Ole Miss team. There is still a lot of football left to be played, but it has been an ideal start to the season for Green, who leads the country in passing touchdowns and ranks second in QBR through three weeks.
Le’Veon Moss is a running back who succeeds with great acceleration, footwork, and contact balance. He showcased all of his best qualities in a high-scoring game against a talented opponent in Notre Dame. Moss was consistent and efficient, rushing for 81 yards on 20 carries. He consistently made big plays when needed, scoring three goal-line touchdowns and converting a crucial 3rd & 12 on the ground to extend the drive while trailing in the fourth quarter. Against Notre Dame, Moss showed he has the talent to consistently pick up positive yards, score in the red zone, and make big plays when needed.
Terrance Carter Jr. showed he can make an impact in multiple ways in Week 3 against Oregon State. He made two third-down pickups on short passes, including turning a 3rd & 22 screen pass into a first down with his speed, elusiveness, and overall great run-after-catch ability. Carter displayed his ability to get open deep down the field as well, with a 23-yard touchdown catch where he got wide open in the end zone. He also showcased his impact in the blocking game, highlighted best when he helped turn a short 3rd & 26 pass into a touchdown by taking multiple defenders out of the play as a blocker. Carter finished the game with six receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown, making plays in all kinds of ways throughout the entire game.
In recent years, Northwestern has done a good job developing offensive linemen with Rashawn Slater and Peter Skoronski, and Caleb Tiernan is the next great Northwestern offensive lineman. For the second week in a row, Tiernan made the PFF National Team of the Week, this time against one of the best teams and defenses in the country in Oregon, posting an 86.7 PFF grade. Tiernan is currently projected to be a third-to-fourth round draft pick, but if he continues to stack elite performances against great teams, he could find himself projected to go much earlier by the end of the season.
