4-Star QB KJ Lacey feels Texas commitment is strong, still interested in Alabama

KJ Lacey feels his verbal commitment to Texas is in a good place, but he is still receiving a lot of interest from top programs.

“My commitment is strong, really strong,” Lacey told Touchdown Alabama. “I love Texas.”

Lacey is the starting quarterback at Saraland High School and is one of the nation’s top 2025 signal callers. He continues to get recruited by programs like Auburn, Ole Miss and Oregon. Alabama is still involved in his recruitment, but he is looking to see what the Crimson Tide’s recruiting plans are for the quarterback position in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

The Tide hosted Lacey for a visit soon after Kalen DeBoer was hired. He was in Tuscaloosa when Alabama five-star signee and fellow Saraland product Ryan Williams visited.

“I went up there,” Lacey said. “I visited and all that. They’re still figuring out like what they’re going to do quarterback-wise for our class, so just waiting on that to see how that goes, but Alabama is still there.”

Lacey led Saraland back to the 6A State Championship game last season. He finished the season with 3,448 passing yards and 42 passing touchdowns while only throwing three interceptions.

After losing a big senior class, Lacey is looking forward to leading a Saraland team with some new faces next season.
