4-Star Texas WR Commit Makes Final Decision on Possible Flip

Four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart has been committed to the Texas Longhorns for a full year, but was still taking visits during that time.

The Tennessee Volunteers and SMU Mustangs each hosted Stewart for a visit, and after careful consideration, he has decided to shut down his recruitment and not visit any other schools. He is fully committed to the Longhorns.

"The culture stands out, it’s truly unlike anywhere else," Stewart told On3's Hayes Fawcett.

This is a big win for the Longhorns since Stewart is one of their top recruits in the class. He is the No. 32 wide receiver recruit and the No. 212 overall recruit in the country, per 247Sports composite rankings

The Longhorns have the ninth-best recruiting class for 2026. They have nine four-star recruits and one five-star recruit in this class.

They're coming off a 2024 season that saw them get to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff before losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes, who went on to win the national title. It was the Longhorns' first full season in the SEC after they agreed to join the conference from the Big 12.

They'll get the chance for revenge when they open the 2025 college football season in Columbus against the Buckeyes. Arch Manning will start for the Longhorns now that Quinn Ewers is in the NFL. He'll be on a fast track to the NFL in 2026 if he has a great season.

Kickoff for that contest will be at Noon ET on August 30.
