As he watches his former program march on in the College Football Playoff, Lane Kiffin is building for the future. The LSU Tigers’ head coach picked up a big pledge on Saturday.

“BREAKING: Elite 2027 EDGE Jaiden Bryant has Committed to LSU, he tells me for @Rivals,” Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett wrote on X. “The 6’4 255 EDGE from Irmo, SC chose the Tigers over South Carolina, Georgia, Miami and Alabama. He’s the No. 1 EDGE in the ’27 Class (per Rivals).”

247Sports’ composite rankings tab Bryant as a five-star talent and the No. 34 recruit in his crop. On the same day Bryant committed, that recruiting service’s director of scouting, Andrew Ivins, wrote a scouting report on him.

“Thick edge defender that creates negative plays with his twitch, power and a relentless motor,” Ivins wrote. “Sets the tone on the corner by initiating contact and trying to ram his way through opponents before sliding inside or outside.”

Bryant was his state’s co-defensive player of the year this past season. He registered 79 tackles, 23 of which were for a loss. He also turned in 11 sacks, six fumble recoveries and an interception.

Overall, as a high schooler, Bryant has 215 stops, 54 tackles for loss and 32.5 sacks. Bryant was also a state qualifier in the shot put as a sophomore.

Kiffin preferred to coach the Ole Miss Rebels through the College Football Playoff, but was denied the chance to. Earning the affection of guys like Bryant is the next best thing, setting the Bayou Bengals up for a bright future.
