Johnson is a 2027 five-star recruit out of Cathedral Catholic in San Diego, California. He currently has Alabama in his top 10 alongside Ohio State, Oklahoma, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.
The Tide appears to like the five-star at safety with Jones making the trip to California. Jones primarily works with Alabama’s safeties.
At 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Johnson was a playmaker on both sides of the football as a junior. He rushed for 23 touchdowns, and he pulled in seven receiving touchdowns as an offensive weapon. The California product took the ball away from opponents four times in 2025 as a defender.
Johnson was also a burner during the last high school football season. He reportedly reached a top speed of 22.76 miles per hour during a touchdown run.
Alabama has succeeded at recruiting defensive backs from California under Kalen DeBoer, and the Tide will look to continue this trend.
