A key difference in rankings among ESPN's experts emphasize why Miami Hurricanes OL Francis Mauigoa could hear his name called very early in 2026 NFL Draft

Miami Hurricanes OT Francis Mauigoa is very likely a first round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.  The Hurricanes' big right tackle has been one of the best linemen in the ACC and should only take another step forward in 2025.

Mauigoa's loft position among offensive linemen eligible for the 2026 draft was echoed this week by ESPN draft experts Matt Miller and Jordan Reid, who each listed their top five at every position as far as 2026 draft rankings.

Mauigoa checked in both pundits' top five - but at different positions.  Miller has Mauigoa as his top-rated offensive tackle.  Reid has him as his top-rated guard.

Mauigoa's ultimate position in the NFL will be interesting to see, whether he stays on the outside or if he slides inside to play guard.  He shouldn't need to slide inside per se, as he has a good frame - 6'6", 315 pounds - to play tackle, and an 81-inch wingspan is substantial. We'll see where his arm length is measured at during NFL draft evaluations.

However, it's that ability to play both that should add an extra layer of value to his draft stock come April. We've seen a premium put on players who can play inside or outside, and it was evident in last year's draft class.  Three of the top tackles available - Will Campbell, Armand Membou, and Kelvin Banks, Jr. - all have the ability to play guard. All were taken in the top 10.

Naturally, they're terrific prospects at an important position, but that versatility is something that's valuable to teams.  The Saints have evaluated Banks, who they took with the ninth overall pick, at potentially guard or tackle during the offseason.

As such, Mauigoa, who has that potential positional flexibility due to his strength, physicality, and adept run blocking skills, could find a bit of added bonus added to his draft profile once teams get a closer look at him at the NFL Combine and during Miami's Pro Day.

And that versatility could be another factor that seems him walk out of the draft room and hug NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell early on April 23 in Pittsburgh, home of the 2026 NFL Draft.
