The Alabama Crimson Tide's season ended in a 27-20 loss to Michigan in the College Football Playoff, and at least some of the blame lies with one of the most fundamental aspects of the game: snapping the football.
Multiple bad snaps, including one in overtime, left quarterback Jalen Milroe scrambling to recover the ball or otherwise disadvantaged when facing a stout Wolverine defense.

At the center of many Bama fans' complaints was senior center Seth McLaughlin, with some even calling for his backup, redshirt sophomore James Brockermeyer, to step in.
That didn't happen against Michigan, but Brockermeyer has a good shot of landing the starting center position next season. That is if he can beat out a host of other interior offensive linemen for the Crimson Tide.
According to 247 Sports, the Tide won't have a senior interior offensive lineman next season, but there will be plenty of juniors, sophomores and freshmen.
Joining Brockermeyer as the eldest among the interior linemen are Terrence Ferguson II, who was a backup guard this season, and starting guards Jaeden Roberts and Tyler Booker.
Behind them are rising sophomores Olaus Alinen and Roq Montgomery, as well as incoming freshmen Casey Poe, Joseph Ionata and William Sanders.
Every player in that group was a four-star recruit with the exception of Ionata, a three-star recruit.
With plenty of talent to choose from, there's likely to be a fierce battle for the starting job. But whoever wins out, they'll surely remember the Rose Bowl as Exhibit 1A in showing the most important job of all is getting the ball quickly and accurately into Milroe's hands.
