Air Force Falcons Key to the Season

Run, run, RUN
Throwing out the abbreviated 2020 season, the 2024 team was the worst rushing team in the Troy Calhoun era. That’s 17 years of dominance - the 2020 team averaged close to six yards per carry - with last year the only full season the Falcons didn’t get to at least 3,000 rushing yards. They need to be pushing past 4,000 yards, not fail to get to 2,700 like last year, to succeed. So …

Air Force Falcons Key Player

Josh Johnson, QB Jr.
Or Liam Szarka. After the loss of Quentin Hayes, who stepped up at the end of last year, the Falcons have to find that dominant quarterback to run the ball over and over, and lead the attack to well over 300 rushing yards per game. Johnson has a little bit of experience, Szarka is a dangerous option, and one of them needs to make the offense work.

Air Force Falcons Top Transfer, Biggest Transfer Loss

Top Transfer In: None, but …
Air Force doesn’t bring in transfers, so let’s go with this. Who might be the new star who didn’t do anything last year? The youngest projected starter is sophomore Korey Johnson at corner. He got his feet wet with a wee bit of action, but he should grow into a mainstay over the next three seasons.

Top Transfer Out: David Santiago, LB Jr.
The linebacking corps is more than fine, but it would’ve been nice to keep the veteran who made 38 tackles with 3.5 sacks and would’ve been the star of the defense. The 6-4, 235-pounder will now be a part of the Michigan State linebacking rotation.

Air Force Falcons Key Game

at Utah State, Sept. 13
It’ll mean everything to get off to a hot start. The Falcons will beat Bucknell to start the season, but they get Boise State up after going to Logan to deal with Utah State.

If Air Force is back to being Air Force, it should beat the Aggies and give the Broncos a problem. Win, and with Hawaii coming to Colorado Springs, a 3-1 start is likely.

Air Force Falcons 2025 Season Prediction, Win Total, What Will Happen

Can the Falcons win all of the games they’re supposed to?

Wyoming is always tough at home, but last year Air Force lost to a team that went 3-9. It lost at New Mexico, too, but all of the other defeats were acceptable.

This time around, Bucknell, and home games against Hawaii, New Mexico, and Wyoming have to be wins.

There aren’t any games against power conference teams, and Army and Boise State are home games.

The Falcons will struggle again on the road, and five of the last eight are away from Colorado Springs. They’ll rebound enough to get bowl eligible, but with so many replacements on defense and not enough certainty on offense, it’ll be a ragged run.

Set The Air Force Win Total At … 6

Likely Wins: Bucknell, New Mexico

50/50 Games: Army, Boise State, at Colorado State, Hawaii, at Navy, at San Jose State, at UConn, at Utah State, Wyoming

Likely Losses: No Sure-Thing Projected Losses
