Alabama football fans are excited to watch Ryan Williams excel as a freshman wide receiver, yet the Crimson Tide brought in an electric four-star playmaker in the 2024 signing class that is no slouch.

Amari Jefferson, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., was one of the smoothest route runners in the class.

The 6-foot, 200-pounder has the speed, hands, and route-running savvy to be a dangerous weapon. Jefferson earned D2-AAA “Mr. Football” honors for the state of Tennessee in 2023, after posting 74 catches for 1,401 yards and 20 touchdowns at Baylor High School as a senior. He chose the Tide over Auburn, Georgia, and the hometown Volunteers on the recruiting trail.

He recorded 72 catches for 1,370 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior in 2022.

Jefferson unveiled his number for Alabama for the upcoming season.

He will don No. 17, a number both Kenyan Drake and Jaylen Waddle made successful in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Both won a least one national championship and were dynamic players in the No. 17. Isaiah Bond, a former Tide receiver, also wore the number.

He now plays for the Texas Longhorns. Bond caught the iconic 31-yard, game-winning touchdown pass from Jalen Milroe on fourth down in the 2023 Iron Bowl to beat Auburn. The play, dubbed “Gravedigger,” led Alabama to a 27-24 win on the road.

We will see how well Jefferson represents the number for the Tide.
