Alabama football is embracing an us against everyone else mentality entering SEC play as the Crimson Tide prepares to take on Georgia in Athens this Saturday.
The Tide will come into Saturday’s road matchup inside Sanford Stadium against the Bulldogs as a -3.5 point underdog, with many around college football circles picking Georgia outright to win. This role has caused Alabama to develop thicker skin as it embraces this underdog mentality heading into this weekend. One of the main driving forces behind this mindset is senior linebacker and captain, Deontae Lawson, who met with reporters Tuesday and commented on the mentality Alabama looks to carry with them on the road.
“It’s just the things we’ve been preaching,” Lawson said. “Sideline having juice, and just to know that it’s us against everyone and on the sideline we’re all we’ve got, and we all we need. That’s our slogan. We’re all we’ve got, we’re all we’ll need. And just picking your brother up on the sideline, you know, because it’s one hundred thousand against you man, and you need your brothers to be supporting you, to bring life to you, or bring juice. And it all comes down to execution, you gotta execute on the field. And if you can execute on the field, you can take the crowd away and then it’s just 11-on-11 at that point.”
Lawson and Alabama football will look to continue to invoke this mindset through the week.
