Ryan Williams and Zabien Brown starred as true freshmen for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2024.

The duo, who both sport the No. 2 jersey, made plays in some of the Crimson Tide’s biggest wins last season.

Will an Alabama freshman step up in 2025 and make a similar impact?

There are a few options to consider based on how they perform in the spring and the projected depth chart.

Lotzeir Brooks belongs in this conversation at wide receiver. While Ryan Williams, Germie Bernard and Isaiah Horton are expected to be the Tide’s starting group of wide receivers, there is reason to believe Brooks can carve out a role for himself after an impressive spring where he made some head-turning plays as a dynamic and explosive wide receiver.

The Tide had eight wide receivers record five or more receptions in 2024. Alabama’s 2025 wide receiver rotation could easily feature five to six wide receivers on a consistent basis, and Brooks could be one of those options.

“I’m sure everybody’s heard about Lotzeir Brooks,” Alabama safety Bray Hubbard said on “Hey Coach” while discussing Brooks during the spring.” “That dude, he’s a shifty guy. I mean, that’s a hard guy to tackle. He’s really fast when he gets into space.”

Dijon Lee is another freshman to watch. The 6-foot-4 cornerback flashed during the spring and showed Alabama’s coaching staff why he could contribute in year one.

“Time will tell, but I think Dijon is very much on pace to contribute for us as a freshman, and that’s always impressive to me when you can have a freshman that can compete in the SEC,” Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said. “But obviously, the measurables, the talent, the skill level, the discipline, he reminds me a little bit of Zabian (Brown) and how disciplined and detailed Zabien was when he got here.”

Domani Jackson and Brown return as the Tide’s two starting cornerbacks, and they are expected to take a bulk of the snaps in 2025.

However, Wommack did rotate the cornerback position at times during the 2024 season, giving young players like Jaylen Mbakwe meaningful snaps at the position. The same could be done for Lee.

The least talked about player among this group is Alex Asparuhov. He signed with the Tide as a punter as a member of the 2025 recruiting class and did enroll early, but he missed the spring due to a prior injury.

Asparuhov is expected to be healthy in fall camp. He will compete for the starting punter job.

Fall camp kicks off this week in Tuscaloosa and a lot of eyes will be on these guys.
