Alabama is looking to close out commitment from five-star EDGE

Anthony Jones is one of the top 2026 recruits in the nation.

A five-star EDGE from Mobile, Alabama (St. Paul's Episcopal High School), Jones is ranked as the No. 4 EDGE in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. He's also ranked as the top player from his state as well as the No. 18 recruit in the country, regardless of position.

Alabama and head coach Kalen DeBoer obviously have a ton of interest in securing Jones' commitment, and it's worth noting that the five-star seems to reciprocate the interest.

In a recent interview with Rivals, Jones admitted that while at one point Alabama had started off slow with him on the recruiting trail, the Crimson Tide are firmly in this race.

“For me, they started off behind everyone because of the new staff,” Jones said in mid-July. “But they’ve been very consistent with me, day by day. They aren’t pressuring me for a commitment, they’re very genuine and do a great job of that.”

In fact, a commitment to Alabama could come sooner or later for Jones. While Oregon and Texas A&M are also strongly in consideration for the five-star, Rivals does give Alabama the edge in its commitment prediction feature.

Jones also recently revealed that he's ready to shut down his recruitment.

“I’m making a decision either this week or next week," he told Larry Rudolph (h/t Rivals). 

“Getting those text messages and stuff, it’s getting kinda stressful now,” Jones continued. “Commitment coming up soon, so I’ve just been day-by-day, grinding, keeping my head down, staying humble.”

Jones will be a big domino to come off the board on the 2026 recruiting trail. Out of the 37 five-star recruits ranked by the 247Sports Composite rankings, Jones is one of only five to have not committed yet.
