Alabama is playing its best football at the most important time of the season, and quarterback Jalen Milroe is the main reason why.
The Tide rolled Kentucky, 49-21 to improve to 9-1. Milroe accounted for six of Bama's seven touchdowns and has 10 over his past two conference games. This comes after he had a total of 11 touchdowns in his first five SEC games.
Since the start of the second half of last week's game against LSU, Alabama has outscored its opponents 70-28 over the past six quarters.
Milroe didn't waste any time getting going against the Wildcats, leading Bama to touchdowns on its first three offensive possessions, including two scores on 20-plus yard passes and another on a one-yard sneak following a defensive turnover.

He finished the game 15-of-22 for 234 yards, three touchdowns, an interception and added 36 yards and three more touchdowns on eight carries.
Milroe became the third quarterback in Alabama program history to account for six touchdowns in a game and the first to have three passing and three rushing.

The Tide are playing as well as any team in the country but will still need to prove it on the field in the SEC Championship against Georgia. Until then - and unless Texas loses - it's difficult to imagine Bama passing the Longhorns in the College Football Playoff race.
Alabama lost at home to Texas, 34-24, earlier this season, but it would be difficult to find many people who think the result would be the same if the two teams met next weekend.
No one wants to play Bama right now, and with (presumably) easy wins on the docket over the next two weeks, the Tide will only grow stronger before they meet the Bulldogs in Atlanta for the SEC title.
Alabama might be playing its best, but the team has an opportunity to be even better.
