Alabama LB Drew Sanders likely out for Texas A&M game after hand surgery

Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban confirmed Monday that running back Jase McClellan suffered a season-ending knee injury in Saturday's 42-21 win over the Ole Miss Rebels.

Saban delivered more bad news for fans of the nation's top team on Wednesday.

Per Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News, Saban informed reporters that linebacker Drew Sanders will likely miss this Saturday's matchup against the 3-2 Texas A&M Aggies because of a hand injury that required surgery.

Saban suggested Sanders may be sidelined beyond the upcoming weekend.

"It was maybe a little worse than we thought," Saban said of Sanders' issue. "He is going to be game-to-game here for a few weeks. We'll just have to see how it goes."

Sanders was starting in place of Christopher Allen, who went down with what ESPN's Alex Scarborough referred to as a season-ending foot injury in the campaign-opening victory over the Miami Hurricanes. Coming off the Ole Miss contest, Sanders has 20 total tackles, a pair of pass breakups and four quarterback hits.

Chris Braswell and Dallas Turner are next up on the depth chart at Sanders' position.

"Those guys have played some, but they are obviously going to get more opportunity now," Saban said of Braswell and Turner.
