If all else fails, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe has always had his superpower to fall back on.
That of course, would be his legs, where he instantly turns into the best athlete on the field when he tucks it and gets vertical.
Only, he didn't get vertical against Oklahoma, and it resulted in a befuddling, seven total rushing yards.
His OC wasn't afraid to criticize some of his running traits:
"I think there was a little bit, at times, a little bit too much lateral running that occurred," said Sheridan when asked about the run game on Monday. "And so, we watched the tape, just encouraging him to be a little more north/south in some of those moments, just to have a little bit more production. There’s a fine line there. Obviously he’s making instinctual plays and trying to create plays. He’s trying to create explosive plays, but I think there were times in the game where he could have been a little bit more north/south and a little bit more decisive that way, when he ran the ball."
Let me break this down. That was coach speak for: "I wish he would have just gotten upfield and hit the holes that we had schemed open for him. There were yards to be had and he didn't get them."
Now why Milroe suddenly struggled to see rushing lanes after nearly two full seasons of being one of the most dynamic ball carriers in all over the sport is anyone's guess. This is a player that has 15 rushing TDs on the season, from the QB position of course.
So look, it was an off night for Milroe from every stretch. Three interceptions to go alongside just over 170 total yards and only three points is a performance Milroe aims to forget as he and the Tide hope to save whatever minimal chances at the College Football Playoff they have left in the Iron Bowl.
