Alabama football extended an offer to Joey Fleming over the weekend after camp.
Fleming is a rising sophomore at Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Alabama, and he is a member of the 2028 recruiting class. He now holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Jacksonville State and Oklahoma.
The Huntsville product feels his Alabama offer serves as a significant milestone in his recruitment.
“It means a lifetime of focus has really started to pay off,” Fleming told Touchdown Alabama. “I know Alabama’s expectations on and off the field, and I’m going to live up to them. It’s the beginning step in a marathon.”
The Alabama football program and its success are well documented and prospects residing inside the state are oftentimes no strangers to the program’s reputation. Fleming is no different.
“They leave no stone unturned,” Fleming said. “The high level of professionalism and energy was apparent with the coaches as well the support staff. They all operated above 100 percent. The facilities are perfect.”
Alabama’s staff kept an eye on Fleming throughout the camp before the Tide’s head coach Kalen DeBoer extended an offer to him.
“I knew they were watching because they give me a lot of great feedback throughout the camp, such as comments about my speed and agility,” said Fleming.
At 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, Fleming lines up at right tackle for Huntsville at the moment. He is an active lineman, who likes to engage blocks and keep his feet moving until the defender is on his back or out of the play and the whistle is blown.
