The Alabama Crimson Tide has surged to the No. 3 spot in ESPN’s newly released Football Power Index (FPI) Top 25 for the 2025 college football season, a significant leap that has fans buzzing with excitement.

Announced by On3 on June 3, 2025, the rankings place Alabama just behind Texas and Georgia, signaling a strong outlook for the team under head coach Kalen DeBoer.

This jump reflects the Tide’s impressive offseason, with the FPI highlighting their balanced prowess—projecting them among the top four in both offensive and defensive units, a marked improvement from 2024.

Alabama’s rise comes amid high expectations following Nick Saban’s retirement, with DeBoer tasked with maintaining the program’s elite status.

The FPI credits the Crimson Tide's climb to key returning talent and strategic additions, despite a quarterback battle that could shape their season.

The Tide’s schedule, featuring tough matchups like the rivalry clash with the Auburn Tigers in Week 14, will test their mettle, but their projected strength on both sides of the ball positions them as a serious contender for the SEC title and a deep playoff run.

After a mightily disappointing season that saw the Crimson Tide fail to make the College Football Playoff and ended with a loss in the ReliaQuest Bowl to the Michigan Wolverines, the program is desperate to get back to being amongst the elite.

As the season approaches, the Crimson Tide's lofty ranking underscores their potential to reclaim national dominance in 2025.
