Alabama football’s sophomore linebacker, Cayden Jones will be returning to the Crimson Tide in 2026, according to Yea Alabama.
Jones signed with Alabama as a four-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting class. He has contributed as a backup linebacker for the Crimson Tide in his first two seasons, with most of his meaningful playing time coming on special teams. The North Carolina product played in 10 games in 2025 and finished the season with eight total tackles, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry.
The Tide is losing Justin Jefferson, Nikhai Hill-Green and Deontae Lawson to the NFL. Jones is expected to be among Alabama players competing for playing time to fill the holes those players left at inside linebacker. The 6-foot-4, 228-pounder was praised for his athleticism and his ability to play in space as a college football prospect.
This is a promising update for the Alabama defense.
