Alabama star wide receiver Ryan Williams is still stewing over one of the Crimson Tide’s defeats last season, and has a warning ahead of the revenge game.

In a recent appearance on Jon Gruden’s “Inside The FFCA” podcast, Williams was asked what happened to Alabama during last season’s shocking loss to Vanderbilt. The wide receiver did not hold back when discussing how he intends to make it right in the 2025 rematch.

“They played a better football game than us this game,” Williams admitted. “We came out slow, and they capitalized. They got the ball, they had their gameplan, and they executed.

“Going into (this year’s) game, we don’t call them revenge games. We’re going to kill an ant with a sledgehammer this year.”

October’s loss to Vanderbilt was one of the season’s biggest upsets, and led to the Crimson Tide getting roasted by many. At the time, the team was 4-0 and had just beaten Georgia, so the Commodores were expected to be an easy opponent.

Williams, who is not lacking in confidence, will likely be a big part of any revenge game. He became a star as a freshman with 48 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns, but he was held to three receptions for 82 yards in the Vanderbilt loss.

Alabama is scheduled to host Vanderbilt on Oct. 4. They will not take that game lightly, and will look silly if they lose again in light of these comments.
