Just last week, Alabama had a flurry of players who entered the transfer portal when the window opened. The offense and defense both lost their fair share, with 13 players entering their names.
However, one of those players has since removed his name from the transfer portal as tight end Danny Lewis will be returning to the Tide.
Lewis is a former three-star recruit from the 2022 recruiting class who was ranked as the No. 622 player in the country and No. 31 tight end in his cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite. During his three seasons at Alabama , Lewis has just one catch for five yards, but his role could expand next season because the Crimson Tide is set to lose two of its mainstays at the position, with Robbie Ouzts and C.J. Dippre both out of eligibility.
Dippre and Ouzts combined for 26 catches, 321 receiving yards, and a touchdown while impacting the running game significantly. Alabama also used Josh Cuevas extensively at the tight end position, with the former Washington transfer grabbing 15 catches for 213 yards and a touchdown.
Lewis will have a chance to play substantial snaps in 2025 with the veteran attrition and lack of proven players behind. Lewis and Cuevas will be the upperclassmen of next year's position group.
Alabama signed two tight end signees in the 2025 recruiting class: Kaleb Edwards, a major receiving threat, and Marshall Pritchett, who is more of the blocking archetype. Ty Lockwood was a freshman this season who could also push for snaps next year.
