The transfer portal has been very active over the last week in college football, with some of the top players in the nation choosing to switch teams and find new homes for the future.
While we've seen talented and proven players like Purdue safety Dillon Thieneman transfer to the Oregon Ducks, or Missouri EDGE Williams Nwaneri transfer to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, we also are seeing a lot of young and unproven choose to find new schools as well.
One of those you players is former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Dylan Lonergan, one of the top young passers in the portal this year. Longergan was rated by 247Sports as a 4-star QB who ranked as the No. 159 overall player in the 2023 class, and the No. 13 quarterback.
In his two years at Alabama, Lonergan completed just 7-of-8 passes for 35 yards, and now he's looking to continue his career elsewhere. According to recent reports, he's looking at an SEC rival as his potential next destination.
ESPN's Max Olsen reports that Lonergan is expected to take an official visit to the Georgia Bulldogs this coming week and is strongly considering an intra-conference transfer. The Bulldogs have some great talent at the QB spot, with Carson Beck potentially returning for another year, Gunnar Stockton, and former 5-star recruit Jaden Rashada on the roster.
We will see if Lonergan sees the Dawgs as a fit on his visit, but at this point, it looks like the former Crimson Tide player could be keeping it in the SEC with his transfer in the near future.
