Key Analysis: Alabama football opens the season against an unpredictable Florida State team. There are a lot of things Alabama football has had to consider coming into this one with a lot of new faces on the Seminoles’ roster. On the flip side, the Crimson Tide returns a lot of talent to its roster on both sides of the football. This should remain a strength for Alabama in this one despite them battling some injuries.

Key Analysis: As visitors, it is vital that Alabama football starts fast on both sides of the ball. This means the Tide must establish a rhythm early with Ty Simpson under center, whether that’s through the air or on the ground. Taking care of the football and staying ahead of the chains with inclement weather pending is also key. Last but not least, expect the Alabama defense to dictate the tone of this contest by generating consistent pressure on Florida State QB Thomas Castellanos.

Prediction: Alabama: 38 Florida State: 10

Key Analysis: The first half of this ball game will be Ty Simpson’s best opportunity to let the football fly because the weather reports in Tallahassee forecast rain. A few quick throws for Simpson can get him settled in early, but the team that has the better running game will capture the victory today. Alabama is rolling into Doak Campbell Stadium without running back Jam Miller at their disposal, and the Crimson Tide are looking for someone to step up. The carries will be divided up between Richard Young, Daniel Hill, Dre Washington and likely Kevin Riley. With the way this game is shaping up, do not be surprised if there are a few physical runs from Hill, a 240-pounder with unique athleticism. As the weather conditions worsen and the Florida State defense tires down, Hill could be the guy to put the game away. As far as the Alabama defense, not having Tim Keenan III on the field is rough, but this has created an opportunity for another defensive tackle to contribute to shutting down Florida State. Watch for Jeremiah Beaman to be that guy in this spot today. Overall, Florida State will be a competitive opponent for Alabama, but quarterback Thomas Castellanos has given the Crimson Tide enough bulletin board material to go out there and make Castellanos uncomfortable throughout the game, just enough for him to possibly make a crucial mistake or commit a late turnover.

Prediction: Alabama: 31 Florida State: 20
