Alabama WR Jermaine Burton 2024 NFL Draft Profile
John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama

Height/Weight: 6-0, 196

Age: 22.9

Strengths

  • Suddenness: Nice snap in his lower body to get low and create separation at the top of his route
  • Deep Ball Tracking: Innate feel for hand timing and body positioning when getting downfield
  • Hands: Seldom drops passes within his radius. Naturally catches the ball with soft hands

Areas of Improvement-Concerns

  • Route Running: Needs to refine his steps and breaks, particularly on routes outside the numbers
  • YAC: A little loose in his plan. Has the athleticism to generate yardage, just want to see him get upfield
  • Demeanor When Not Targeted: Doesn’t exhibit a ton of effort when on the backside of pass concepts or asked to run block

Evaluation:

Burton is a tricky player to evaluate. He doesn’t have a ton of production over the course of his career, and was unable to generate a lot of buzz while at Georgia or at Alabama with QB and 2023 first overall pick Bryce Young. That said, Burton had the best year of his career in 2023, showing a well-rounded skillset of speed, hands, and athleticism. Burton will have to become more refined technically and clean up some other parts of his evaluation, but he has long term starter potential in the NFL.
