Alabama's Nick Saban: Tide will 'probably be underdogs' in rematch vs. Georgia

The Alabama Crimson Tide won the SEC Championship less than a month ago when they beat the Georgia Bulldogs, 41-24, but Nick Saban doesn't think Alabama will be the favorite to win the rematch.

“We’re still going to probably be underdogs in the game, I would assume," Saban said on a Saturday appearance on ESPN's "College GameDay." "Georgia played an outstanding game last night. The part that I saw against Michigan, they were dominant. So, I could see why people would think that, but it’s a challenge."

Georgia beat Michigan, 34-11, in the Orange Bowl, but Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said after the game that the team has "a lot of things to fix" if it hopes to beat Alabama. The Crimson Tide were similarly dominant Friday night when they beat the Cincinnati Bearcats, 27-6, in the Cotton Bowl.

Now Alabama and Georgia will meet in the College Football Playoff Championship on Jan. 10.

Despite the Crimson Tide's December win against Georgia, Saban's prediction may end up being true. The Bulldogs have already opened as a slight favorite for the championship game on the FanDuel Sportsbook.
